The Science Behind Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating the body's natural healing processes. According to Chinese medicine, the body is believed to contain vital energy, known as Qi, which flows through pathways called meridians. When there is an imbalance in the flow of Qi, this can lead to physical and mental discomfort and pain.

Acupuncture is designed to correct these imbalances by stimulating the acupoints, which helps to unblock any obstructions in the flow of Qi and restore balance to the body. The stimulation of the acupoints also triggers the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins and serotonin, which help to reduce pain and promote relaxation. Additionally, acupuncture can also stimulate the circulation of blood, which helps to speed up the healing process and reduce swelling and inflammation in the affected area.
